Mrs Bilikisu Rimi, an ICPC witness in the ongoing trial of Mrs Maimuna Aliyu for alleged N57 million fraud on Friday 11th, said she released the original land documents to the defendants.
The witness said that no payment was made by the defendant, adding that the documents were released on the instruction of the former Managing Director of Aso Savings, Mr Hassan Musa
Rimi said this before Justice Mairo Nasir of the FCT High court, while being cross examine by Mr Joe-Kyari Gadzama the defense counsel.
Maimuna was the former Executive Director, Marketing, Aso Savings and Loan and was being prosecuted by the ICPC for alleged N57 million on land deal since 2017.
The money was said to be paid for the three plots of land located at Jahi district, Gwarinpa Abuja, which was alleged to have been bought by the defendant.
According to Rimi, the former MD of the company invited me to his office in 2012 where I met the defendant where she said that there is an interested buyer of the land belonging to the bank.
“The MD then asked me to bring the document, after few days I went back to the MD to ask for the document and find out if payment had been made and the MD said that the defendant had made the payment.
“I later discovered that the payment was not made and I went back to the MD to report my findings.
She said that there was a designated account for such transaction for payment which according to her was not paid.
She however said that she was the officer in charge of original titled deed, adding that she often gave to whoever had completed payment.
According to Rimi, I gave the document to the defendant because the information I had was that the buyer wanted to cite it.
“I released the original titled deed to the defendant because she was my superior and based on the instruction from the former MD of the company.” She said.
Mr Akponimisingha Ekoi, Counsel to the ICPC, while leading the witness in evidence said that contrary to claim of the defendant to the police that she handed the money for the land to her, she said that no such thing happened.
She said that there was no complain against her to ICPC or the Police in respect of the matter.
Another prosecution witness, Mr Sadoo Danjuma, an ICPC investigation officer told the court that he investigated the matter and that the outcome of the investigation was forwarded to the appropriate department of the commission for the next line of action.
Danjuma also told the court that he did not only investigate the defendant, but with all those who are involved in the transaction in Aso Savings Plc.
Meanwhile, Justice Nasir had adjourned the matter until July 11 for continuation of hearing.
